U.S.S. Enterprise

Constitution Refit Model

A demonstration of my 3D modeling skills

Work In Progress

This is a sneak peak into my current work-in-progress: developing a 3D model of the Enterprise starship model as it was seen in the first 6 Star Trek films, what is known as the Constitution Refit Class. Ever since I watched those films as a child, this version of the Enterprise has always been my favorite. I have attempted to draw it, build it out of LEGOs, and have considered assembling a lit-up Polar Lights model, but now I have taken the approach of 3D modeling it as a test of my skills and testament to my nerd-dom.

It’s been a long road…

The images below represent many hours down this long road toward a completed model that I can be proud of. As exited as I am about how well I think it is going, it is indeed a slow-going project and there have been a few parts I’ve had to redo. I’ve only barely begun laying in textures, focusing instead on the form, colors, and lighting. Even still, it is far more advanced than my previous attempt many years ago.
